Don’t Talk, Just Listen

by Andy Warner on February 4, 2009

As fathers and working men, we are inundated daily with tasks and responsibilities outside of the home.  Our boss wants this, the owner wants that, customers must have this and our peers will die without that.  As a result, we repeatedly stare at the clock hoping and praying that the end of the day comes quicker than out next breath.

What happens, next?

You guessed it.  We look at the clock and its 9.07am, we have only been at work for 7 minutes.

ARGH!  (Image of screaming)

Ok… You think to yourself, 7 hours, 53 minutes, surely I can make it until then.  Yard by yard, life is hard.  Inch by inch, it’s a cinch, right?  You decide to take the day one hour at a time.  Before you know it, your day is over.

Sigh…

As soon as you walk in the door… CHAOS!

Your wife needs this, your children need that, the television is not working, your dryer is on the fritz, what do you do?  How do you manage all of this chaos and all you want to do is relax and spend time with your wife.

Chances are, your wife wants to spend time with you as well, but is overwhelmed.

Handle the kids, take the pressure away.

Don’t talk, just listen.  Your wife is your first priority.  You were placed here to be her partner and that’s what you need to do.

Don’t talk, just listen.
