Memorial Day 2010 Tribute
My Memorial Day 2010 tribute.
To my Dad:
I wish we would have had a longer time to discuss your experience serving with the military. After your death I found out you were quite an accomplished officer. Thanks so much for defending our country for you, me and your grand-children. Thank you so much for serving our country without question or reservation. We had our ups and downs. I definitely learned a lot about being a father, husband and man — both good and bad. I wish you could see your son now. Your legacy definitely lives on.
To my Grandpa:
Thanks for serving in World War II. I cannot begin to fathom your experience. But the man I knew, the man that was partly created by this conflict, was a man to behold. You are (and always will be) one of my heroes. I miss you terribly. Your energy, your life and excellence I will strive to emulate, but there will always only be one, Clarence Vivian Mills, “Tye”.
To today’s soldiers:
Keep doing what you do without hesitation. The sacrifices you have made are immeasurable. Your service enables so many unfathomable things to occur. Keep fighting. You have our unending support. Thank you so very much.
