Skinny Jeans… Should Men Wear Them?

by Andy Warner on February 16, 2009

Its a new phenomenon that is sweeping the fashion world.  This might be bigger than white women growing or acquiring booties.  (lol) Seriously though, this new type of clothing is the “skinny jean”…for the fellas!  Huh?  Yeah, I said it!  The “skinny jean”…for the fella’s!

Now I’m not a fan of this jean for the fellas but on the east coast and in the south (mainly Metro-Atlanta) these jeans are selling like Jordan’s back in 98!  Since I was brought on to contribute to every facet of fashion that pertain to the fellas, I feel it is my duty to write about this jean!  If I didn’t, it would be grave injustice and a travesty to the “skinny jean” itself! (lol not that serious) “Skinny Jeans” if I can recall, were only worn by the kids who skateboarded, were into punk-rock or women.  Now this jean has transcended race and gender.  This jean has become very fashionable and is very versatile.  One can rock them with sneakers, casual or dress shoes.  I saw a gentleman on New Years rock them with suspenders, bow tie and and a blazer.  I witnessed another gentleman rock them with the Retro Jordan 1′s, tee shirt and a hoodie.  Doesn’t get anymore versatile than that.  To be perfectly honest, both looks didn’t look bad.  I couldn’t rock the style but to each its own.  Some guys can’t and won’t rock what I wear but that’s what makes an individual.  I was watching 106&Park about a month ago and they had on a survey asking “SHOULD MEN WEAR SKINNY JEANS?”  That is how much of a stir this jean is causing.  It’s funny when the white guys were wearing them, nobody said anything.  Now that the brothas are wearing them, its news.  Again, I’m not a fan of the “skinny jean”.  I love them on the ladies, especially the sistas.  I believe myself a fashion forward gentleman, so I encourage the fellas to rock whatever they want. I will pose the same question that was aired on 106&Park.

SHOULD MEN ROCK THE “SKINNY JEAN”?
