The Pact - A Video Book Review

0

My mother bought The Pact for me a couple years ago and urged me to read it.  I initially thought, “Oh mom, I will read it as soon as I can.  I am sure this is a great book, but I have other books to read right now and other things to do.”  Well, I should have picked it up as soon as she gave it to me.  Mom, I am sorry, but I read the book finally. I really enjoyed the three different perspectives setup by Lisa Frazier Page.  This worked very well providing various aspects of the same situation and similar experiences for the boys.  Think of the first three books of the New Testament–Each disciple provided their own view of the same events.

Briefly, the book is the story of a pact made by three teenage boys.  These boys recognized the dangers they faced at an early age and the challenges their environments posed.  Statistics were clear that they would end up either dead or in jail at an early age.  The majority of their friends were locked up or struggling to hustle on the streets of Newark, New Jersey.  Murder and violence were every day occurrences to them.  Fortunately, these boys did not want their lives to end up like the majority of their friends.  Thus, the pact was born.

The pact these gentlemen created has four fundamental truths.  These truths should be evident in any group that decides to form a pact.  View my review to learn what those truths are and how they can help you and those you care about forge a better connection, bond and trust of each other.
